iGO My way is the perfect GPS navigation app for your android smartphone. I use my Samsung Galaxy S2 for navigation. On my roadtrip through florida I used iGO My way and I’m very happy with the quality and correctness of the navigation.  iGO offers a traditional 2D map but also a 3D view which is very helpful during the navigation at e.g. Miami. But I prefer the 2D view with auto zoom when I am not in a big city like Miami. Very helpful are the POI’s iGO / the maps knows. The useability of the menu is very easy and fast. The response time of iGO is fast and the menu with its large buttons are suitable for use on my Samsung Galaxy S2.

iGO My way – navigation screenshots

This screenshots shows the cool 3D view. Because I am from germany all distance informations are in km / metric units. But you can switch to a miles view if you prefer. The maps are part of the application, so navigation doesn’t depend on cellular network coverage. This was very helpful for me because I had no contract with for e.g. AT&T. There are no dead zones and no waiting for the network. It simply works everywhere on my road trip.

iGO My way™ for Android™ offers unparalleled visualization quality I have ever seen. I love the beautifully rendered maps whiche provides instant orientation during my road trip through florida. Complex junctions like in miami downtown are displayed in 3D to provide rapid understanding of your next maneuver. Very helful are the life 3D models of famous landmarks and display of the terrain around you – such as valleys, hills and mountains – combine to provide superior door to door, turn-by-turn navigation.

iGO My way – Find Places

On your way you mabe search for a hotel or gas station. Therefor iGO offers three options to search what you want to find. Select your destination – either by searching for an address, a place of interest or picking a spot on the map. The Smart Keyboard and Smart Search make it easy to find what you are searching for. The Adaptive Search Results technology actually learns from your use of the application and tailors search results accordingly.

  • In a City
  • Around Destination
  • Along Route
  • Around Here

Very helpful was the seach function “Along Route”. Usually I used this function to find the next Star Bucks for a coffee and for internet access. The Around Destination search was good to find something to eat at the end of the day tour. The next schreenshot shows the menu “Select where you want to find places”.

 Florida roadtrip – 2722 miles

The picture below shows my roadtrip through Florida. I started at Miami Airport and then traveled anti-clockwise through Florida. Very helpful was the route fine tuning function. Choose from fast, short, economic or ‘easy-to-follow’ route variants, compare the various route alternatives visually on the map, and pick the one you prefer. You can also avoid freeways, ferries, unpaved roads, and toll roads. This was cool because sometimes you have to tune your route because you want to see a village or a POI. When you you missed a turn? iGO My way instantly re-calculates the route and bring you back.
