Samsung has stopped the distribution of the android 2.3.6 firmware update. The reason are the mass problems the user have with their SGS2 after the update. The main problem is that the Galaxy reboots suddenly after the upgrade to 2.3.6. After such a sudden reboot you have the problem that you will not immediately notice that you are not approachable.
It is a shame that the communication from Samsung is so bad and that they do not officially communicate over e.g. Kies that have stopped the distribution of the new firmware 2.3.6. I hope if the hotfix is available the firmware update to 2.3.6 will be available too at the end of February.

I still have installed the android 2.3.4 firmware on my SGS2 smartphone. I always wonder why smasung has never released an android 3 gingerbread version for the SGS2. The 2.3.4 fimrware runs stabil for me.
Ice Cream Sandwich – ICS
The upgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 will be the last Gingerbread upgrade. At the end of march Samsung will release the an upgrade to the actual android version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
