Samsung started disposing a new update for the SGS2. The new android 2.3.6 firmware for the Galaxy S2 is now available via Kies. I read in asian forums that hey had problems with the new firmware and I decided for me to be carefully with an upgrade. The problem the people are describing is that their SGS2 reboots sometimes. I will try to install the new firmware next weekend and I will update my blog instantly.
Unfortunately there was no description about the new features of the firmware. I found nothing about the improvements on the Samsung homepage. But what I found in blogs and forums was that the SGS2 will respond faster. It will boot faster and the accu lasts longer. I’m afraid if I will have the same experience with updating my SGS2.
Samsung Kies - Firmware-update
First I will make a backup and then try to install the new android 2.3.6 firmware on my Galaxy S2.
The new update on android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available by Kies in the first quater of 2012. But the android 2.3.6 will shorten the waiting time for android 4.0.

Samsung Kies shows the old firmware
Now my problem is that Samsung Kies tells me that I have installed the latest firmware on my Smartphone. But the installed version ist the 2.3.4 as shown in the picture below.
I will try to upgrade my Galaxy S2 and I hope that I find a way to install the new firmware with kies…

Every time I restart my computer Kies tells me that there is a new firmware available for my Samsung Galaxy S2. A small window pops up in the lower right corner. But I can not install the new firmware on my SGS2. How do I get the new 2.3.6 firmware installed on my smartphone?

I updated the Samsung Kies and I have now installed the version 2.2.0.12014_18. But I still can’t install the latest firmware with Samsung Kies 🙁
Samsung Kies uninstall / install
After uninstalling and installing Kies the odd massage still appears that a new firmware is available. But as I wrote above Samsung Kies still tells me that I have installed the latest firmware. I uninstalled and installed Kies but I still have no chance to install the latest android firmware 2.3.6 with Kies.

Samsung has stopped the distribution of the android 2.3.6 update. The reason are the mass problems the user have with their SGS2. The problem is that the Galaxy reboots suddenly. After such a sudden reboot you have the problem that you will not notice that you are not approachable.
