Do you still remember? That one thing you absolutely had to have as a teenager? For me, that was a Maglite with large D-cells. Not just any flashlight, but that specific<\/i> one. A massive and heavy club made of aluminum that felt like it could survive a nuclear strike and whose light beam you could focus. It was the epitome of adventure and reliability.<\/p>\n

Recently, while cleaning up, this exact lamp fell back into my hands \u2013 my old Maglite 4D. A wide grin spread across my face, followed by a slight sense of disillusionment. The four huge and heavy D-cells were long gone, and the original light bulb was little more than a warm tea light compared to today’s LEDs. Throw it away? Never! Instead, a new project was born: An upgrade for the 21st century!<\/p>\n
