The &#8220;GINGERBREAD 2.3.4&#8221; is very old and and I do not want to wait any longer until the update is available about Samsung KIES. I want to see the new &#8220;User Interface&#8221;, the new &#8220;Task Manager&#8221; and the &#8220;Face Unlock&#8221; function instead of a pin code. Two steps are necessary:<\/p>\n<p>1. Step: Get root access to you SGS2<\/p>\n<p>2. Part: Installing Android 4.0.3 &#8211; Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This part explaines who to get a custom rom e.g. ICS 4.0.3 XXLPB installed on a SGS2. Precondition\u00a0is to have root access and to have CWM installed (see\u00a0manual in part 1).\u00a0Furthermore you have to delete all data &#8211; and\u00a0I recommend to save\u00a0your data in advance.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Download_custom_rom_XXLPB\"><\/span>Download custom rom XXLPB<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First you have to download the custom rom GT-I9100_WanamLite.XXLPB.Deodexed.Stock.NO-WIPE.zip.<\/p>\n<p>Download the XXLPB ROM from <strong><a title=\"rapidshare.com\" href=\"https:\/\/rapidshare.com\/#!home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Installation manual:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download the custom rom (GT-I9100_WanamLite.XXLPB.Deodexed.Stock.NO-WIPE.zip) and save it on the SD Card of your SGS2<\/li>\n<li>Restart your smartphone with CWM (click &#8220;ClockWorkMod&#8221; within CWM)\u00a0in the recovery mode<\/li>\n<li>Make a backup of your data!<\/li>\n<li>Delete all data with wipe data \/factory reset, Wipe cache partition and wipe cache (you will find them in the menue &#8211; scroll with your volume control)<\/li>\n<li>Select the downloaded\u00a0custom rom (GT-I9100_WanamLite.XXLPB.Deodexed.Stock.NO-WIPE.zip) on your SD Card. Confirm that you will flash your smartphone on your own risk.<\/li>\n<li>Restart your smartphone<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now you have to reconfigure your smartphone and afterwards you can use Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_experieneces\"><\/span>First experieneces:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I read a lot about ICS and the new features sound great. An update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is overdue as it is one of the most selling smartphones in the world. With installing Android 4.0 I do not have major problems and I really like the\u00a0new functionalities.\u00a0I\u00a0described all the new features in a further articel that you will find <a title=\"Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.3 \u2013 My first experiences\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blogyourearth.com\/en\/smartphone-2\/ice-cream-sandwich-android-4-0-3-my-first-experiences\/3552\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\nHowever sometime the software update seems to be a little bit instable.
