The Gravitrax-compatible spacers or towers from the 3D printer are a brilliant addition to any marble run. I’ve printed these towers in a variety of heights and use them regularly – especially in combination with the Electric Marble Lift V4a. The spacers not only add extra stability, but also offer creative freedom when building Gravitrax tracks.
What are Gravitrax-compatible spacers?
The model “Gravitrax Compatible Spacer – Various Heights” by Printables user **crazydragon** includes stackable tower elements in various heights. These can be perfectly combined with original Gravitrax parts and elegantly replace or extend the standard height blocks.
The spacers come in different heights (5 mm to 30 mm) and are designed to be printed without supports – saving both time and material.
Here’s a photo showing several of the spacer towers:
My printing experience and setup tips
I usually print the spacer towers on my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon (link), often in multiple sizes but always one color per print – the different colors make the marble run more vibrant compared to using just gray spacers.
👉 My personal recommendations:
- Material: PLA (lightweight, strong, and easy to print)
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Infill: 15%
- Print time: around 15–40 minutes per tower (depending on height)
The parts are extremely accurate, stack cleanly, and can be used as individual supports. I especially like the version with a height of around 200 mm – perfect for making fine height adjustments to your track layout.
Why the spacer towers are so useful
When building with Gravitrax, we often run into limitations – either we don’t have enough height blocks, or they don’t fit exactly into the desired track layout, especially when marbles need to pass through a tower. That’s where the spacers come in: with different height options, you can precisely adjust inclines and build creative structures not possible with standard parts.
Here’s a video of one of our builds at home:
Together with the Electric Marble Lift V4a, this opens up brand-new possibilities: The lift brings the marbles up, the spacers provide a flexible, stable layout – and the fun is taken to a whole new level.
We even bought an extra set to make larger track layouts possible in the first place.
Conclusion: Small parts with a big impact
The Gravitrax-compatible spacers are a must-have for anyone looking to creatively expand their marble run. Easy to print, highly versatile, and perfectly combinable with other 3D-printed models like the electric lift. For me, they’re now part of the essential toolkit for every new track.
