In this test I compare my old Samsung Galaxy S2 with the HTC One X and my new Samsung Galaxy S3. From the left to the right the next picture shows the SGS2, the HTC One X and the SGS3. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the biggest screen as you see in the next picture.
Here is the picture with all three pictures I used for my test:
Usability
The most obiouvse difference is that the HTC One X has a sensitive home button, wheareas both Samsung phones have a real “push” home button.
One negative aspect of the HTC One X is that the battery can not be replaced. You even cannot open the HTC One X. With both Samsung smartphones this is possible, so that you can exchange the battery if necessary. Furthermore there is no possibility to insert a Micro SD Card in the HTC One X, even though it has an internal 32 GB it might be useful to extend the memory with an additional Micro SD Card.
Samsung offers Samsung Kies in order to sync your smartphone with Outlook. In comparison to the HTC Sync Manager that is provided by HTC, I prefer the Samsung software.
All in all I prefer the usability of the Samsung smartphone as both seem to be well advanced.
Speed
Comparing the CPUs of the 3 smartphone the Galaxy S2 is far behind, you can really notice this e.g. when playing a game.
However in daily I do not feel a significant difference.
CPU | HTC ONE X | Samsung Galaxy S2 | Samsung Galaxy S3 |
Clock rate | 1.5 GHz | 1.2 GHz | 1.4 GHz |
Type | Quad-Core NVidia Tegra3 | single core | Quad-Core Exynos |

Display
I really like the display of the Samsung Galaxy S3. The old Samsung Galaxy S2 cannot compete with the new ones.

Resolution | 1.280 x 720 Pixel | 800 x 480 Pixel | 1.280 x 720 Pixel |
Camera
I really like to use the camera of my smartphone, although I like my Canon G1X for advanced pictures.
Here are the tech specs of the 3 smartphones
Camera | HTC ONE X | Samsung Galaxy S2 | Samsung Galaxy S3 |
Sensor resolution | 8 Megapixel | 8 Megapixel | 8 Megapixel |
Resolution | 3264 x 2448 | 3264 x 2448 | 3264 x 2448 |

Pictures
With each of the smartphones I took pictures in our neighbourhood. I did not use any special settings and here are the results:
HTC ONE X | Samsung Galaxy S2 | Samsung Galaxy S3 |
And here are pictures of the landscape:
HTC ONE X | Samsung Galaxy S2 | Samsung Galaxy S3 |
It is very difficult to say which camera is the best one, even though I think all 3 cameras are quite good. I personally prefer the flower pic of the HTC One X and the landscape picture of the Samsung Galaxy S3, but this is just my personal opinion.
